In September 2016, attendees from 5 continents came together for five days in Morocco to support women-led social enterprises in the craft and natural skincare sectors from Africa and the Middle East. The inaugural Trade+Impact Summit & Trade Expo was centered around three key themes: leadership in social enterprises, technology and design, and trade and investment.
As Summit Master of Ceremonies, Roshni Mooneeram, stated in her opening speech:
“...Trade+Impact is creating the key conditions that will allow women from Africa to the architects of their own lives and those of their communities. Trade+Impact is advocating for action that has the potential to change the course of history.”
Throughout the Summit, the call for growth and change was made, barriers between an underrepresented market and economic empowerment were broken, and a vibrant, vital community of social entrepreneurs and their advocates was built. And after it’s end, the energy of the Summit has carried through to today.
Looking ahead, T+I is preparing for the next Summit, where another cohort of social enterprises will be introduced to future customers and business clients from around the world.
As Roshni said: “..may this journey take us to local, regional, and global partnerships that put strategies, tools, and networks at the service of women entrepreneurs.”

En septembre 2016, les participants des 5 continents se sont réunis pendant cinq jours au Maroc pour soutenir les entreprises sociales dirigées par les femmes dans les secteurs de l'artisanat et du soin naturel d'Afrique et du Moyen-Orient. L'inauguration du Trade + Impact Sommet & Trade Expo s'est concentrée autour de trois thèmes principaux : le leadership dans les entreprises sociales, la technologie et le design, ainsi que le commerce et l'investissement.
Comme l'a souligné le maire du sommet des cérémonies, Roshni Mooneeram, dans son discours d'ouverture:
"... Trade + Impact est en train de créer les conditions idéales qui permettront aux femmes d'Afrique d'accéder d’être les architectes de leur propre vie et de leurs communautés. Trade + Impact préconise une action qui a le potentiel de changer le cours de l'histoire. "
